Marathon 4 Max…
I have been given a place in the London Marathon October 2022.
This is the challenge of a lifetime for me as I’ve not run much further than about 7k… Ever. I will be running (possibly crawling) in memory of my son Max who sadly passed away in August 2019 from a rare childhood cancer, a Malignant Rhabdoid Tumour. I am raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children’s Charity as this was our home while Max was poorly, he spent most of his life here and I have many fond memories with him in this hospital, despite what he was facing. This place is incredible for all the work they do, they gave us the chance to watch Max grow, they gave us our precious memories and allowed us to say our goodbyes peacefully in a hospice. They save so many children every single day.
I will take you all on my training journey so you can feel the pain with me, I am so grateful for the support in advance…. I’m simply just being a mother to my son in the only ways I now can.
Remembering Max The Brave, my tiny hero. Suz. Xxx

Max’s 3rd Birthday Wish…
For Max’s 3rd birthday (29th August) we will be gifting the in-patient oncology wards at Great Ormond Street Hospital with some toys and some special care packages for the parents/carers. Having lived in a hospital with a very poorly child I know just how important it is to show our love to these families. It’s a very dark lonely place isolated in a hospital room so a small act of kindness can really make a difference.
**We will be delivering these mid August once I have confirmed a date. There are 30 rooms across 3 wards at G.O.S.H, the rooms are often full and when one child is discharged another is admitted**.
There are 76 different types of cancer found in children with around 4,500 being diagnosed each year (information from Children with Cancer UK), cancer treatment for children can go on for many years. We will always need to show these families the support they deserve.
Along side our acts of kindness we are also helping to fund a research project “creating superpowered immune cells to treat childhood tumours” you can donate to these causes via this website.

G.O.S.H Cheque Presentation…
Big step today (2nd March 2020) going back to Great Ormond Street Hospital, so many emotions coming to the surface but stepping back inside the hospital made us realise why we are doing what we are doing. So many children with rare diseases, illnesses and life limiting conditions are treated in this hospital with exceptional care.
Despite being diagnosed here Max had many happy memories as do we. We built strong friendships with the nurses and playworkers who also greeted us at the entrance today.
Thank you again for your continued support and donations to all of our fundraising pages and events.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices… (Christopher’s, Guildford)
Max spent his final days at Christopher’s Hospice in Guildford. When you first hear the word “hospice” you instantly think the worst but we are so glad that we decided to visit Christopher’s. What an amazing, calm, peaceful place. It’s almost like heaven on earth.
The staff here went the extra mile for us, they looked after Max’s symptom management so we could focus on our final moments as a family, they ensured that he suffered no pain and could slip away peacefully whilst in our arms.
We stayed at the hospice for a week after Max passed away, this really helped us to come to terms with what had just happened, we were able to see him when ever we wanted and had time to say our final goodbyes.
The staff at Christopher’s looked after us like we were their own family, they catered for our entire family and nothing was too much trouble. So as a thank you our first fundraiser was to Christopher’s Hospice. We raised £2,098.75 in memory of Max. Thank you for your kind, generous donations to such a wonderful place.
